What are those symbols next to people's names on the MOTAS chat room?

There are 3 symbols that you might see next to someone's name, these are:

1: The green symbol and the "+" - This is known as a Voice, or being Voiced.

2: The "%" - This is known as Halfop.

3: The red symbol and the "@" - this is known as Op. (Ops also have yellow names and yellow writing)

Voice: The majority of people who are voiced are good MOTAS helpers who do not break the MOTAS chat room rules, some of them are translators who help to translate MOTAS into other languages and do not break the rules, and even yet more of them are bots(computer programs) that belong to the Ops and Halfops. Being voiced doesn't give you any power and does not excuse you from the rules.

Halfop and Op: Halfops and Ops are moderators of the chat room. This means that they help to make sure that everyone on the chat room is following the rules and they can kick and ban anyone who does not follow the rules. Any arguments with them will always end in their favour and their decision is final.

There is not much difference between halfops and ops, the main difference being that ops permanently have yellow writing. While there may be reasons why some people are halfops and others are ops, this is none of anyone's business and will not be explained (that means do not ask).

What does "kick" mean? - If you are kicked from the chat room, you are temporarily removed from it. This happens when you break the rules. When you are kicked you can rejoin the chat room providing that you start to follow the rules and that you listen to the ops and halfops.

What does "ban" mean? - If you are banned from the chat room, you are removed from it and prevented from rejoining. This happens when you repeatedly break the rules, or when you do something really bad. When you are banned you cannot rejoin the chat room, if you do manage to get around the ban and rejoin they will know and ban you more effectively and for longer. The length of time of a ban is up to the person who banned you and may be anywhere from 5 minutes to indefinite (that means forever). A ban is not negotiable.
